The Service of Love Foundation (SLF) is busy at work; this time their fundraising efforts took them all the way to Mountlake Terrace, Washington. On August 04, 2019 beginning at 9:00am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, this non-profit organization hosted a fundraiser to raise money for its impactful ventures for this upcoming fall. A total of 3 masses were held on this day and in total 300 individuals congregated together. Following each mass, 15 volunteers from the SLF sold authentic Vietnamese food in the gymnasium of St. Pius X Catholic Church. The menu consisted of Vermicelli Noodles with Grilled Pork & Pork Roll, Spring rolls With Shrimp & Pork, Banh U-Sticky Rice with Ground Pork, Egg Rolls, Water/Soda, and Vietnamese Yogurt. In total, The SLF raised $1,385 from selling food, and received $395 in generous donations.
The Service of Love Foundation is extremely grateful to all who supported their fundraiser in Seattle this past August to help end the summer of 2019 off on a high note. Furthermore, the volunteers and leaders would like to give a special thanks to Rev. Cal R. Christiansen for letting the Service of Love Foundation organize the fundraiser and to Mrs. Tracy, Mr. Hieu, Mrs. Kieu, Sr. Gabriel and the Vietnamese group for helping prepare and sell the food and refreshments. The money raised at this successful event will go towards enhancing the lives of those living in Vietnam. Feeding the hungry in impoverished areas, providing educational opportunities for children in need, and supporting the vulnerable elderly population are all missions that the money raised will help fuel. More importantly, as the school year approaches, the proceedings will also be added to the scholarship fund for Vietnam students. As always, greater than any mission or amount of money raised, this organization feels a calling to spread love, kindness, and charity to those who need it most.
We are excited to reveal our new informational flyer and ask you kindly to share this on social media with friends and family to get the word of our mission out.

On November 17 , 2018 that approximately 7:00 pm, The Service of Love Foundation invited guests to dance, laugh, and fellowship with them for their first Fundraising Dinner. This memorable event was held in the banquet room at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church located on 702 48th St, in Brooklyn New York. On this calm November night, 120 guests traveled from various locations and NYC boroughs to support this great cause. If one were to gaze out at the individuals that filled the seats, one would see a beautiful melting pot of ethnicity, religions, and races conversing together. Many St. John’s University Students and faculty, volunteers, and other supporters were present in the crowd. Attendees were asked to provide a donation of $50; raffle tickets were also available for purchase with a grand prize of an iPad. In addition, wine, pictures, unique paintings, and delicious chocolates made up the bidding table for a silent auction. The night officially began with a presentation from co-director Sr. Agnes Nguyen; a St. John’s University student served as a translator for non-Vietnamese speakers. The presentation highlighted the mission and current accomplishments of the Service of Love foundation. From the distribution of scholarships to a total of 15 students this past fall, all the way to the foundation functioning as a symbol of hope for the Vietnamese people, this organization is the quintessence of genuine service. As the night progressed, different performers were eager to entertain guests. Songs were performed in English and in Vietnamese, a magician graced the stage and conducted a magic show, and dinner was provided featuring a variety of Vietnamese entrees, sides, and deserts. A total of $6,541 was raised from this event; the proceeds will help provide students with more scholarships and ensure that the elderly can live comfortable lives in Vietnam. This fundraising dinner showed all of the miraculous things that can happen when love is the driving force behind all that we do. We are called to serve, and we are called to love.
Mr. Pham Van Thuc has terribly faced ventricular dilatation for 8 years. Although he had a surgery 4 times, he has still been unconscious. His wife is a worker who has to take care of two young children and him after work. Service of Love Foundation reached out his family and provided some support. His wife really appreciated our organization for this help and was grateful for generosity of donors.
We were happy to give food to elderly in Luong Cach-Ninh Thuan and Muong Mang-Binh Thuan. Although our help was not substantial, it provided a sense of support and love.
Currently, with the generous contribution of donors we were able to give 60 uniforms to children in the Kindergarten in two places Sao Mai School-Ninh Thuan Province and Tho Trang-Phan Thiet Province. We also provided the poor children in Da Han- Ninh Phuoc-Ninh Thuan Province with school supplies that can help their parents reduce new school fees.
We were pleased to provide two students: Ping Ka Thanh and Than Duong Dao with scholarships that can cover the cost of books and part of tuition.
The Service of Love Foundation is producing something very special across Vietnam. Smiles. As a non-profit organization their mission and core values are rooted in the act of service. For the fall, this foundation was able to provide 11 students from grades two through nine at schools in Luong Cach, Ho Hai, Ninh Hai-Ninh Thuan Province with scholarships to begin the year with. In addition, four students attending colleges in Nhat Trang City also received benevolent scholarships. The appreciation and pure happiness of the recipients is too great to confine to words. The students can use the money they’ve received towards school supplies and tuition. Colossians 3:12 reads, Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. This is the quintessence of service; living your life in a way that you can be the bridge between God and others as they see him through your selfless spirit. The Service of Love Foundation is determined to keep their light shining bright, and they are striving to perform as many acts of kindness as possible to support the people of Vietnam as they journey through life. All scholars thank the sponsors and The Service of Love Foundation for their generosity, but their smiles are all the thanks needed.
